Booking & Reservations
Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends when we're busiest. Walk-ins are welcome but subject to availability. Call us at 310.367.2672 or email info@sunnysideebikes.com to reserve your bikes.
Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance receive a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of your reservation may be subject to a fee. No-shows are non-refundable. If the weather is bad, we'll work with you to reschedule.
Absolutely! Just give us a call while you're on the trail and we'll extend your rental, subject to availability. You'll be charged the difference for the additional time.
Yes! For groups of 4 or more, contact us directly and we'll put together a custom package. We're also great for team outings, family reunions, and birthday parties.
The Bikes
Not at all! If you can ride a regular bicycle, you can ride an e-bike. We give every rider a quick orientation before you head out, covering how pedal-assist works, braking, and shifting. Most people are comfortable within the first few minutes.
Our bikes are Class 2 e-bikes with pedal assist up to 20 mph and a throttle mode. On trails, most riders cruise at 8–15 mph depending on terrain. You're always in control of your speed.
With a full charge you'll get 30+ miles of range, depending on terrain and how much you use throttle mode. That's more than enough for a full 6-hour rental. We've never had a rider run out of battery.
For lakeside paths, town riding, and easy trails, the RadRover (front suspension) is perfect — it's comfortable, smooth, and great for all ages. For mountain trails like Cougar Crest or Grays Peak, go full suspension with the D7 Cobra, King Bull Ranger or King Bull Titan — they handle rocks, roots, and rough terrain with ease. Not sure? Ask us when you arrive and we'll match you to the right ride.
Riders must be at least 16 years old, or accompanied by an adult. Weight limits vary by bike model — contact us if you have questions about fit and we'll make sure we have the right bike for you.
The Ride
There are 18+ trails accessible from our location, ranging from the flat, paved Alpine Pedal Path (great for families) to the challenging Grays Peak Loop (epic panoramic views). We'll give you a trail map and recommend routes based on your skill level, fitness, and how much time you have. Check out our Explore Fawnskin page for details on every trail.
Both! The Alpine Pedal Path is fully paved and flat — perfect for casual riding. The mountain trails like Cougar Crest and Grays Peak are dirt singletrack with varying levels of rocks and roots. Our fat-tire e-bikes handle both surfaces with ease.
Many of the trails in the area are dog-friendly (including Grays Peak), but dogs cannot ride on the e-bikes. If you have a pup who loves to run alongside, we can suggest appropriate trails. Always keep dogs leashed on trails per local regulations.
Big Bear weather can change quickly, especially in spring and late fall. If conditions are unsafe, we'll work with you to reschedule at no extra charge. Light rain is usually fine — the bikes handle wet trails well. We always recommend bringing a light jacket just in case.
Call us! We provide our phone number with every rental and can help troubleshoot over the phone or arrange assistance if needed. We also do a full safety check before every ride to minimize the chance of mechanical issues.
Free parking is available right at our shop at 39122 North Shore Drive. We're easy to find — look for the SunnySide E-Bikes sign, right near the Fawnskin Post Office.
Safety
Yes! Every rental includes a properly fitted helmet at no extra charge. We strongly encourage all riders to wear their helmet for the entire ride.
Yes, all riders (or a parent/guardian for riders under 18) must sign a liability waiver before riding. This can be completed when you arrive at the shop — it only takes a minute.
You'll have our shop phone number (310.367.2672) available throughout your ride. For serious emergencies, call 911. We recommend saving both numbers in your phone before heading out.
Give us a call ahead of your visit and let us know what you need — we'll do our best to accommodate riders with accessibility needs.
Absolutely. Non-riders are welcome to relax at the shop while you wait — we've got free WiFi, lake views, and you're welcome to bring your own food.
